Flash Back! Melissa and Nino’s Austin Wedding

Lakeway Resort and SpaLakeway Resort and Spa is a ROMANTIC place for a wedding. Melissa and Nino chose well. My parents took their honeymoon there. As the weather gets colder in Austin, I am reminded of some of my favorite wedding photographs from another chilly day. Austin Wedding Guide even published our photo of their wedding cake in the wedding guide. Melissa and Nino were two of the sweetest people we have met and their wedding was romantic and gorgeous with the cold and the clouds.

Michael Gratovich was the classical guitarist at this wedding. He did a fantastic job, as always. We met him once before at a wedding at Barr Mansion. Lovely.

Michelle’s Bridal Session

Here are a few of our faves from a bridal shoot with Michelle. She wanted a bit more traditional bridal photos so we chose the Zilker Park Botanical Gardens in Austin to start out. Also, since her wedding was going to be outdoors at the Memory Lane Event Center, she asked to take some formal portraits at a church as well. We chose St. Mary’s Cathedral downtown for it’s classic feel. Look back here in a couple weeks for pictures from their wedding. It was a blast! Keg-stands and all!

Gabby and Ryan Engagement Photos

A couple of weeks ago we shot the engagement of this gorgeous couple. James Dean and Julia Roberts! Gabby and Ryan have that movie star quality. They drove to Austin from Flower Mound where they live (which is ‘spitting distance’ from where I went to high school in Duncanville) for their engagement photo session. We thoroughly enjoyed shooting this photo session with these two. We are really looking forward to their wedding next year at the Wildcatter Ranch in Graham, TX.

While we were playing on the railroad tracks, we had the good fortune to have a train come by. We LOVE the American flag in this one. It seems appropriate for this all-American couple!

These two goofed and posed like pros. Ryan kept cracking up Gabby. Look at that smile! Julia Roberts better watch out :)

Lt. Colonel Ben Powers

Yesterday, I had the honor of photographing my brother-in-law at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas for his promotion to Lt. Colonel. The location of his promotion ceremony was in a hanger with an Apache gunship as his backdrop. Now how cool is that!! It was a joyous and proud occasion that I am grateful to have witnessed. Unfortunately during this happy occasion is when the shooting happened on Ft. Hood. Brittany and I were able to leave the army post before the lockdown occured. My sister barely made it out. As she was driving past one of the checkpoints to leave the post, she saw in her rear view mirror the MP’s closing the gate.  Ben, was caught in the lockdown and didn’t make it home until 6 housr later.  We’re grateful he’s safe.  We hope for a speedy recovery for the wounded and our prayers are with the fallen and their families.

Pictures of Lt. Colonel Ben Powers will be up shortly!
